David Nga must face the music, says Tunku Aziz
Friday, December 2, 2011KUALA LUMPUR: Mere apology does not absolve David Nga Kor Ming from disciplinary action for his racial slurs and insulting remarks, says Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim.
The DAP national vice chairman has maintained his stand that the party must take disciplinary action against its Taiping member of parliament for his unbecoming behaviour and unwarranted attacks against Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.
Tunku Abdul Aziz told The Mole the remarks “hitam metalik” and “haram jadah” (loosely translated as bastard) were unacceptable and uncalled for, thus the DAP's disciplinary committee must institute the necessary actions against the Perak DAP secretary.
“Nga’s remark was unacceptable. I believe the disciplinary committee should deal with this matter. He did apologise but this matter should also be dealt with,”Tunku is the most senior Malay DAP leader added.
David Nga who is also Pantai Remis assemblyman had during a political talk (ceramah) in Kamunting reportedly said that Perak has a Menteri Besar “yang hitam metalik, yang haram jadah itu, masuk dari pintu belakang,” obviously referring to Zambry.
A short video clip of the insulting speech was posted in several blogs including Rocky’s Bru.
In his initial response following widespread criticism against David Nga, Tunku Abdul Aziz said DAP must take the case seriously and act on it.
“Disciplinary action must be taken. DAP is not a racial-based party, but obviously there are people in the party who think otherwise. Actions must be taken to show that the view does not represent the view of the party,” he told The Mole.
David Nga in a statement apologised for his remarks. The statement read : “to all who feel offended by my remarks, I wish to say sorry and apologise to them including Dato Seri Dr Zambry but I will continue to fight any form of undemocratic regime in this country.”
He explained his speech was meant to imply that the appointment of MB was illegal and the state government is unlawful.
“In absolutely no circumstances that my speech was referred to skin colour or Indian race,” he said.
David Nga also claimed that his speech was taken out of context, spun and distorted by Barisan Nasional (BN) cyber troopers. He also said that his statement was distorted by irresponsible media to ignite racial sentiments.
