Monday, October 24, 2011Lim Guan Eng has called Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin a “coward” for repeating claims by pro-Umno bloggers that his son had molested a schoolmate.
The Penang chief minister said he was “appalled and disgusted” that Muhyiddin had attacked his son for political mileage and told the Umno number two to focus efforts on him instead.
Did the Deputy Prime Minister make such a statement?
Several bloggers have criticised Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for attacking Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin over remarks he made about allegations involving Lim's son.
Syed Akbar Ali wrote in his blog OutSyed the Box that "all this venom from Guan Eng against the DPM has arisen from just a one paragraph answer that Tan Sri Muhyuddin gave to some reporter from one of the Opposition portals."
After highlighting a transcript of Muhyiddin's response to a reporter's question on the matter, Syed wrote, "So the DPM did not go overboard, he did not make wild statements, he did not accuse anyone of anything."
Blogger MiM said today that Lim "wants to use the scandal to get sympathy and distract the people from his various inefficiencies as Penang's leader."
MiM also said that Lim "wants to associate this scandal with UMNO leaders."
Because of this, MiM wrote, Guan Eng has twisted the Deputy Prime Minister's remarks to get political mileage.
Meanwhile, blogger Big Dog has called out The Malaysian Insider for putting a negative spin on Muhyiddin's remarks.
"Obviously, the response is a completely different story from the context on how it was asked to Tan Sri Muhyiddin in the first place," Big Dog wrote today in his blog.
"Obviously, DPM Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s reponse to The Malaysian Insider's question was manipulated."
"It is very clear how The Malaysian Insider use response and information even if it is the truth will be spun into something malicious, meant to cause uneasiness and even anger for certain parties," he said.
