SANDAKAN - Felcra Berhad is confident of achieving its target to pay dividends totaling RM850 million this year.
Chief Executive Officer Juzilman Basir said the target was based on increased yield of its oil palm plantations and also higher prices. "If yield increases and the price of oil palm fruits is in our favour I'm sure we can mee the target," he told reporters after the Sabah Felcra Hari Raya event here today.
Last year, Felcra distributed RM544 million in dividends to its participants, of RM157 million was given before the fasting month. This year 94,000 participants were paid RM244 million before Hari Raya, of which 3,200 in Sabah received between RM7,000 and RM10,000 each.
Juzilman said Felcra had received a RM30 million allocation from the Rural and Regional Development Ministry to repair village roads and other amenities and also to build houses for the hardcore poor in Sabah.
