KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Islamic Bank (HLISB) on Friday named Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Aziz as its chief executive officer.


"I am confident that with Raja Teh's leadership, HLISB will continue to innovate to be a pre-eminent player in the Islamic financial services industry," said Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Bank, Yvonne Chia, in a statement.

 

Raja Teh has over 18 years of experience in the financial industry, focusing on investment banking and Islamic finance. She was the global head of Islamic markets at Bursa Malaysia prior to her appointment with HLISB.


She was also the chief corporate officer and head of international business at Kuwait Finance House Malaysia and chief executive officer of Bank AlKhair Malaysia (previously Unicorn Investment Bank).


Raja Teh also served in CIMB Investment Bank covering the debt and equity origination and equity sales and was responsible for the establishment of the investment banking division at RHB Investment bank in 2004.


She is is also the adviser on Islamic banking and finance to the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation and holds an LLB (Hons) degree from the University of East London.


HLISB was granted by the High Court a vesting order transferring the entire business, including all assets and liabilities of EonCap Islamic Bank to it with effect from November 1. Following the vesting, EonCap Islamic Bank will become dormant.
