This Is NOT How You Calculate Inflation

KUALA LUMPUR: A blog posting at Economics Malaysia pointed out that opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not understand economy when he spoke about inflation under the government’s Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

The blogger, Hisham H said in his latest posting, he had to laugh when he found out how Anwar got the figure for the inflation.

“The inflation numbers sounded wrong to me, so I looked back at the actual data. Honestly, when I figured out how he got the inflation numbers, I had to laugh,” he said.

The blog posting showed how the data was calculated by Anwar before showing how the calculation was supposed to be done.

“I think Dato’ Seri Anwar needs a new research assistant –preferably someone who knows math,” Hisham H added.
