The trio have been asked to explain themselves over the public spat

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Pas has issued a gag order barring its members from making public statements concerning  the conflict involving its state exco Datuk Hassan Ali, information chief Saari Sungib and former deputy president Nasharuddin Mat Isa.

Selangor Pas commissioner Dr Abdul Rani Osman told The Mole the gag order was issued to stop a public spat among Pas members and leaders in the state.

“It’s not good for people to see Pas members washing dirty linen in public. Our mission is to weaken Umno, not ourselves,” Dr Abdul Rani said.

Dr Abdul Rani added that Pas members should allow the leadership to deal with the trio involved in the controversy and refrain from debating the matter in public.

Pas newsletter Harakah, quoting the party’s Information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, had reported earlier today that Hassan, Saari and Nasharuddin would be called to explain their recent media statements.

Expressing his agreement with Pas vice president Datuk Mahfuz Omar’s statement that members who no longer accepted the party’s struggle should just leave, Dr Abdul Rani who was also criticised during the public spat between Hassan and Saari said there was no room in Pas for those who do not accept the party’s vision.

Mahfuz in a statement yesterday had said that if a party member did not believe in the party, he should just leave.

Terengganu Pas commissioner Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut also agreed that Pas members must adhere to the party’s rules and regulations.

“If you do not agree with it, leave. There is no use to continue fighting. It is as simple as that.”

Abdul Wahid said it is up to the party leadership to decide on the fate of the trio.

Pro-Pas blog Terang Bulan in its latest posting pointed that the issue concerning Nasharuddin and Hassan would have serious repercussions to Pas if the leadership failed to address it objectively.

The blogger noted that the two leaders have a huge following and are regarded and recognised as influential Muslim leaders.
