Will Ramasamy retaliate?
Monday, March 19, 2012KUALA LUMPUR: DAP chairman Karpal Singh public display of power in putting the party's deputy secretary-general Dr P.Ramasamy and his people in their place, anticipation is high for more hostilities between the two.
Blogger Shashi Muniandy believed Ramasamy would not be quiet over Karpal’s dismissal of four of his appointees and that the former is plotting a retaliation.
In a news report today Karpal who is the party’s national chairman had announced that the party will drop four pro-Ramasamy’s supporters from the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) and the Penang Appeals Board.
The four, K. Mangaleswary, Dr K. Anbalakan, S. Gunalan and E. Jothi were appointed by Ramasamy to the board.
Shashi said in his post that Karpal’s push to remove the four was due to his dissatisfaction with the party’s disciplinary committee’s decision in clearing Ramasamy for alleged involvement in a demonstration before DAP Penang State convention last December.
“This action is seen as Karpal’s attempt to weed out Ramasamy’s strong supporters so that the latter will be dropped as DAP candidate and the deputy chief minister (II) post too,” Shashi wrote
A post in the OutSyed the Box blog today said Karpal’s decision as undemocratic.
The blogger said: “If they were properly appointed, according to whatever procedure they have, then how can Karpal just summarily say they will be removed?”
Another blog post at MyMassa wondered whether the spat between these leaders was by choreographed by certain quarters in the party to reduce Karpal's power influence.
“Who actually pit them?” he questioned.
“Was it done by DAP disciplinary panel committee, or Lim Guan Eng or Dr. Chen Man Hin (party life adviser) who does not want Karpal and family to grow stronger in the party?” the post wrote.
It also stated that the squabble between these Indian leaders will only jeopardise the future of the Indian community in the party.
On Saturday seasoned blogger and journalist Apanama was the first to highlight the dismissal of Ramasamy's appointees.
In an exclusive post revealing what had transpired and is happening within the DAP, he wrote about a political intrigue and powerplay in which Ramasamy had overestimated his position and is now trapped in the web and unlikely to get out of it.
