Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar and her husband Datuk Azizan Abdul Rahman continue to be scrutinised in relation to their position and involvement over the Sime Darby and E&O deal.

Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar and her husband Datuk Azizan Abdul Rahman continue to be scrutinised in relation to their position and involvement over the Sime Darby and E&O deal.

In his blog entry yesterday, Ciceromalaysia highlighted 10 main points why the investigation that is currently conducted by the Securities Commission’s commissioners should be focused on insider trading and why during this investigation Zarinah should take an absence of leave.

He says that insider trading is a jail-able offence and it is only fair for Zarinah to not be at the helm of  the Securities Commission when her subordinates are investigating Sime Darby's acquisition of the E&O shares and will possibly investigate her husband too.

According to this blogger, the Securities Commission’s investigation is on whether Sime Darby should make a general offer and not on insider trading which is what it should be.

Meanwhile blogger BigDogdotcom yesterday did a recap on things that took place during Zarinah’s tenure as the chairman of Securities Commission. One of which is the case of Datuk Tony Tiah Thee Kian who was fined RM 3 million in lieu of two-and-a-half years jail for fraud and resigned as executive chairman of TA Enterprise but returned to the post in 2007.

The blogger questions the role of Securities Commission as the regulatory body for permitting this.

Also on the issue of Sime Darby, the New Straits Times wrote that a non-governmental organization Gagasan Anti-Penyelewengan  Selangor (GAPS) urging Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop to explain about the Sime Darby and E&O deal.
